6th KYOTO HISTORICA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL will be held on December 6-14
6th KYOTO HISTORICA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL will be held at The Museum of Kyoto and Kyoto Minami-Kaikanon on December 6th - December 14th, 2014.
This year may become one that we look back to as a vintage year of historical film.
The number of the latest period films that we received in our line-up of possible showings reached nearly 300, which is twice of last year. This may also mean that the world is in need of “history” at this moment. Of course the development of digital technology has supported this statistic, however, if there are no viewers, then the existence of these films would not have been validated.
The more a country is economically attached with others and borders diluted, the more a country or people’s identity is in need to stand out in our society.
Within these 300 films, there are more than just a few that we may feel were made to encourage a country’s nationalism. In the many different social contexts where history has been reproduced as a story, we chose solely one viewpoint to select which films were to be shown:
Historical entertainment that reaches our hearts, not just our minds.
We have chosen a selection of films, of high quality, and of absorbing atmosphere that will capture our viewers spectacularly and romantically.
They are now yours to find in this historical city, Kyoto.
