Up-and-coming actor Go Ayano says he “never held anything back” in his role as a pure-hearted man living in the world of the underground in the newly released film “Shinjuku Swan.”

The film, directed by Sion Sono, is based on a popular manga series of the same name by Ken Wakui. Not only his parents but even luck has given up on Tatsuhiko Shiratori, played by Ayano, when he arrives in Tokyo’s Kabukicho entertainment district.

He finally comes into his own as a scout, in which he entices young women to work in nightclubs and adult entertainment businesses. But he becomes involved in a feud and is forced to confront a rival, Hideyoshi (Takayuki Yamada).

Despite his choice of career, Tatsuhiko is a lovable man and has a pure heart, although he tends to shoot from the hip.
